While the celebration of Mass will respect the requirements of state and diocesan directives for social distancing, it is important to note that it is impossible to eliminate every risk. Therefore, the Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of Toledo, has extended the dispensation from the obligation to attend Sunday Mass until further notice. Individuals who are at greater risk (the elderly, sick, those with pre-existing conditions) are encouraged to refrain from returning to public liturgies until such time as they feel comfortable and confident to do so. A Mass each Sunday will continue to be live-streamed on the parish
Facebook page (The Catholic Parishes of Sandusky), times will be announced in advance via social media.
For those who would like to attend Mass in person, the following policies and procedures will be in effect at Saint Mary’s Parish, Holy Angels Parish and Saints Peter and Paul Parish:
If you have an illness or are exhibiting symptoms of an illness, please stay home.
Access to and from churches will only be allowed through the following locations: The portico doors at Saint Mary’s and Saints Peter and Paul; the entry-way by the parish office at Holy Angels. All other doors may only be used in an emergency. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to the start of Mass and will close when Mass begins.
Parishioners are encouraged to bring their own personal protective equipment (including hand sanitizer). Individuals may not wear gloves when receiving Holy Communion in the hand.
Parishioners who wish to attend Mass will have to register for a specific Mass online through the parish website; walk-ins will not be admitted at this time. Those without internet access may register by calling (419) 625-7500. Because of the large number of households that would like to attend Mass, each household family will be limited to one Mass per week. Registrations will open on the Thursday before the following week’s Masses (e.g., Registrations for the week of May 25-31 will open on Thursday, May 21).
