The Catholic Parishes of Sandusky, Ohio (Saint Mary's Parish; Holy Angels Parish; Saints Peter and Paul Parish) is seeking a full-time Youth and Young Adult Ministry Coordinator to oversee and expand a successful Life Teen program for high school students of the three (3) parishes, as well as help develop a Young Adult Ministry program.
The ideal candidate is first and foremost a person who is passionate about discipling young people; a faithful, practicing and high-energy Catholic who strives to guide high school students and young adults into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ. This person must have a strong prayer life and a boldness in sharing the Gospel-someone who will help make Jesus first in the lives of our teens. Likewise, the position requires a clear understanding of relational ministry in order to make Life Nights, liturgical celebrations, retreats, conferences, services projects, and other events successful. Creativity is an essential characteristic for this position.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing and implementing the entire Life Teen program; plan and coordinate large events and trips, such as the annual March for Life, Steubenville Youth Conferences, Covecrest and Damascus summer camps; recruit, supervise, and provide formation for a "Core Team" of volunteers who will assist in making Life Teen successful; engaging in relational ministry with teens through visits to area high schools and attendance at important events in the lives of teens and their families; and effectively communicating with teens, families, parishioners, and parish staff and leadership. A superior knowledge of social media is a must. The position involves evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight travel.
Qualifications: Must be a fully initiated Catholic in good standing. Possess excellent leadership, communication, organizational, administrative, and management skills; knowledge of adolescent and young adult culture; working knowledge of standard computer programs, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite; 1-3 years of experience in youth and/or young adult ministry in a Catholic Church; a Bachelor's Degree in Theology, Catechetics, or Youth Ministry is a plus, but not absolutely necessary.
About the Employer: The Catholic Parishes of Sandusky consists of three parishes (Holy Angels; Saint Mary's; Saints Peter and Paul) on the shores of Lake Erie in north-central Ohio.
